PDF to Word

Convert PDF to Word (.docx) right in your browser — everything runs 100% on your device and is never uploaded to a server. The Word file keeps the original page layout, backgrounds, text position and font size, while the text remains fully editable in Microsoft Word or Google Docs. The tool also detects Vietnamese accent marks stored as separate glyphs in most PDFs and recombines them correctly, so Vietnamese text displays accurately in the output.

When do you need it?

  • Edit contracts, reports and forms that only exist as PDF with no original file.
  • Extract text for editing, translation or content updates.
  • Reformat documents in Word without retyping from scratch.
  • Submit Word copies that keep the original layout where required.
  • Rework textbooks and study materials from existing PDFs.

Key features

  • "Keep layout" mode: background image + real text placed at exact positions like the PDF, still editable.
  • "Plain text" mode: text grouped into reading-order lines, easy to reformat.
  • Recombines separate Vietnamese accent marks (acute, grave, hook, tilde, dot...) and normalizes to Unicode NFC.
  • Samples glyph colors from the rendered pixels to match the original.
  • Runs fully in the browser — private, free, with no page limits.

How to use

  1. Upload or drag & drop your file — everything runs right in your browser.
  2. Pick your options and hit the process button.
  3. Download the result — fast, free, no account required.

Safety & privacy

Your PDF is processed entirely in your browser with pdf.js and a DOCX generator — never uploaded, stored or shared. Sensitive documents like contracts or personal records never leave your machine, unlike online services that require uploading files to their cloud.

Genuinely free — no limits

KitsyApp is 100% free — no signup, no daily limits, no watermarks. Processing quality is on par with paid tools like Smallpdf or iLovePDF, and your files are processed on your own device instead of someone else's server.

Frequently asked questions

Is the text in the Word file editable?

Yes. Each real text line from the PDF is placed at its original position instead of being flattened into an image — you can select, edit and restyle it like any normal Word text.

Can I convert a scanned PDF (no text layer)?

No text can be extracted because a scan has no text layer. Run the Image to Text (OCR) tool first or use Image to Word to get editable content.

Does the layout match the original PDF?

In "Keep layout" mode, page size, background images, text position and font size are all preserved, so the result looks almost identical to the PDF. Open the file in Microsoft Word for the most accurate rendering.

Does the conversion affect Vietnamese text?

No. Separate Vietnamese diacritics in the PDF are detected, reattached to the correct characters and normalized to Unicode NFC, so letters like "ế", "ộ" and "ữ" display correctly in Word.

Can I convert large multi-page files?

Yes, there is no page limit. For large files, processing time depends on your machine's performance because everything runs locally on your device.
